Daniela de Luna Martins is a professor and researcher at Fluminense Federal University. She leads the CSI Laboratory, which focuses on Organic Synthesis and Organometallic Chemistry. We use these tools, mainly to prepare compounds with biological activity. In this sense, there is a special interest in active compounds for treating Neglected Diseases, tuberculosis and inflammation. We use specifically the Palladium Organometallic Chemistry as a tool in organic synthesis. We are also interested in the Organoboron Chemistry in both aspects: in their potential as a synthetic intermediates and in Medicinal Chemistry.

Organic Synthesis

We use knowledge of organic reactions and functional groups to build molecules. This is what we call organic synthesis, an area where it is necessary to bring together various chemical knowledge to plan an ideal sequence of "building steps" capable of selectively producing target molecules in good yields. Our target molecules can have applications in Materials Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry, for example.
